Farhang-e Sharif, the Unique virtuoso
Master Farhang-e Sharif, born in 1931 in the town of Amol learned music when he was four years old under the influence of his father’s teaching music and his association with the great figures of music, especially Abdol Hossein Khan-e Shahnazi, brother of Haj Ali Akbar Khan-e Shahnazi. When he was only twelve, he started his first successful solo performance in a live radio program and following that program, he accompanied the singers as a solo player in the radio program of Gol ha (Flowers). He has had performances with Roohangiz, Taj, Gholam Hossein Banan, Shjarian, Mahmoudi Khansari, Iraj and …. . He has introduced the instrument of tar to the world by attending in a few international festivals of music including Berlin Music Festival. His first solo accompaniment was with Mahmoudi Khansari, Master Shajarian and Golpayegani; Golpayegani’s first song was composed by him too. Master Farhang-e Sharif was awarded the first- rank badge of art, equal to doctorate degree, by President Khatami.
